"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity."

- Carl Jung

Morning at Cypress Creek Cabin

Your eyes are wells of light, deep with mystery.

Dawn breathes its light, and night slips away

Song of Songs, The Message

Religious man strives to see signs of God, in the daily experiences of life, in the cycle of the seasons, in the fruitfulness of the earth and in the movement of the cosmos.

To the extent that they are sincerely open to love and set out with whatever light they can find, [seekers] are already, even without knowing it, on the path leading to faith.

Pope Francis, “Lumen Fidei” (The Light of Faith)

I really appreciate that in his first encyclical Pope Francis is acknowledging that faith can also find fulfillment outside the church in nature, and also recognizing that those who are not religious but are open to love and truth are not walking paths much different from those of faith. In the end love as the path and the destination is most important in bringing unity and peace where only differences have been emphasized for too long.
